***UPDATE*** Mickey Hart Wanted for Assault Charges

*** UPDATE Sept. 13, 3:00 p.m.***
Mickey's people sent over a statement from the man himself:
I am totally baffled by a bizarre claim of assault by me coming out of Kentucky – the home of Bluegrass and a state I love dearly. Any accusation or claim of assault against me is completely false and without any basis whatsoever. I played drums on “Shakedown Street,” but I never expected to be “The Victim or the Crime.” - Mickey Hart

Mickey Hart, former drummer for the Grateful Dead, has had a warrant issued for his arrest in the state of Kentucky for allegedly assaulting someone at the Mickey Hart Band show on September 8 at Terrapin Hill Farm in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
Although details are hazy, “multiple law enforcement agencies” told TMZ on Wednesday that the victim filed a police report after the incident. The unnamed person decided to press charges, causing the warrant to be issued, a move that is apparently “standard procedure” in Kentucky.
Michael Hartman was a member of the Grateful Dead from 1967 to 1971 and again from 1974 until 1995 when Jerry Garcia died and the Grateful Dead essentially disbanded. He continued to perform in various groups that included members from the Dead, Particle, Phish, and more. In 2008, he created the Mickey Hart Band and has been touring with a constantly changing lineup of members since. The band’s next performance is at Yonder Mountain String Band’s Harvest Music Festival in mid-October.

The legendary former Grateful Dead rhythm guitarist Bob Weir and iconic contemporary hip-hop band The Roots will team up for a one-of-a-kind performance at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on Friday, September 7. Weir is scheduled to open the evening with a solo acoustic performance and subsequently sit-in with ?uestlove and the rest of The Roots during a concert that will benefit HeadCount, an organization that stages voter registration drives at concerts and music festivals across the country.
The concert will be followed by DJ ?uestlove's "Cap Train Dance Party." Tickets go on sale here on August 16 at 12:00 p.m. EDT.
Weir, who is a member of HeadCount's Board of Directors, will bring his acoustic schtick to three venues in Pennsylvania (Sept. 8 to 10) before embarking on a Colorado and West Coast tour in September and October with Furthur, the latest derivation of the Grateful Dead featuring founding member Phil Lesh on bass.
The Roots, a five-piece hip-hop band that has recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of their first gig, are headed by rapper/singer Black Thought and anchored by drummer ?uestlove. Their instrumentation, energy and no-frills approach to the art of hip-hop makes them a must-see act for any music lover out there.
They currently serve as the house band on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," and have done so since 2009.
