Phil Lesh has announced that he will be adding venue and restaurant owner to an already spectacular resume which currently includes rock legend and philanthropist. Lesh announced last week that he will be opening Terrapin Crossroads, a music venue and restaurant in San Rafael, California, just outside San Francisco. Terrapin Crossroads is envisaged by Lesh as a cultural community center for the celebration of arts including music, culinary, poetry, dance, literature and visual.
The music venue side of the operation is being dubbed the “Grate Room” and promises music of all types. The Terrapin Crossroads website says the Grate Room will feature Phil Lesh and Friends, “Rambles” by the Lesh Family Ramble Band, “Telstar” free-form jam nights and “Terrapin All-Stars” featuring local talent. A full bill of events is expected this summer.
The other side of the Crossroads will be the dining room which is scheduled to open in early February. Of course, in line with the values of The Grateful Dead, the menu will be geared towards organic, sustainable farm to table food.
