Houston's Free Press Summer Fest announced its lineup this morning with The Avett Brothers, Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson topping what is the most extensive bill to date. Set to take place from June 2 to 3, the fourth installment of this emerging little festy in the city of syrup also includes The Flaming Lips performing "Dark Side Of The Moon," recently-reunited punk pioneers The Descendents, the quirky and entertaining alt-rock group Primus, Portugal. The Man and STRFKR.
Electronic music enthusiasts are not want for top-tier talent either with the likes of Major Lazer, a collaboration featuring renowned deejays Switch and Diplo - who is also making a solo appearance at this year's FPSF - and Afrojack.
Since its inception in 2009, FPSF has grown by leaps and bounds. After an impressive initial lineup for a small, hometown festival featuring Of Montreal, Explosions in the Sky and Octopus Project, the festival blossomed in its sophomore and junior years tapping major national acts including The Flaming Lips, Girl Talk, Medeski, Martin and Wood, and Weezer, Cut/Copy, Chromeo and Ween, respectively.
This year promises to be the biggest yet and for only $55.00 for the entire weekend, this festival is a real steal. Check out their their official website for full lineup and ticketing information.
