I first met David Sugalski back in December of 2010 at a warehouse party in Austin, Texas. Around that time, not too many folks had heard of, not to mention witnessed live, his alter ego The Polish Ambassador. Once he steps into his trademark neon yellow jumpsuit and mans his station behind the decks, Sugalski sheds his humble, soft-spoken demeanor and transforms into the ultimate party-rocking emcee.
TPA has no love for whack beats, and has made it his crusade for the past year and a half to travel to the far reaches of the galaxy eradicating them – replacing them with danceable grooves to get down and shake your ass to, refreshing remixes and on his most recent release: six slow, sexy, crunkified jams to snuggle up and get your swerve on to.
Diverging from “Future, Sex, Computers,” his debut release on STS9’s 1320 Records label, the tracks on “Superpowers” showcase Sugalski’s sultry side with crunchy, chill out grooves reminiscent of those that populate “Mating Season,” a 2010 release under his lesser known but equally awesome downtempo moniker, Ample Mammal.

“Float With Me,” transports the listener to a weightless, suspended state, as if at a hip-hop show in orbit, before blasting them ever so nicely with TPA’s signature laser low-end. A haunting choral section begins their serenade with unintelligible melodies as the beat returns – a scintillating space-bass.
“Breathe Her,” released as an exclusive album teaser by The Untz earlier this week, has already received a warm reception with over 3,000 plays in its first day alone. This track begins with a litany of bouncy 80s-esque synth lines that create a canvas for Sugalski to glitch out an emotive, beckoning female voice - one of many galactic muses that appear throughout the album. To quote the legendary Ron Burgundy, “That’s baby makin’ music right there.”
On his most mature record to date, Sugalski maintains his "No Genre Left Behind" approach to beat making, incorporating elements of funk, glitch, IDM, hip-hop, 80s music, jungle and dub. A tasty beat soup that typically instigates healthy doses of booty shake and fist pump, indeed.

However, according to the Ambassador himself, “Superpowers incites listeners to stow away your fist pump, put on your chill socks and ready yourself for some mystery sex theater.”
We’ve got our popcorn ready.
Following suit with previous releases, "Superpowers" will be available for free download beginning today, August 1 at noon via Polish's official website. To support the release, The Polish Ambassador along with visual alchemist and VJ Liminus will be cruising in their space escalade to a city near you with an impressive cast of co-conspirators including Elfkowitz, who will be joining for the entirety of the near 40-date national tour, with regional support from Derek VanScoten (D.V.S.*), Unlimited Gravity and Samples. A full list of tour dates is available below.
