April 13-15 and 20-22 – Indio, CA
Tickets: SOLD OUT
13th year – Last year's attendance: 75,000 per day – Camping: Yes (Extra Cost)
Headstash's Take: The Bonnaroo of the West is letting two times as many people bask in all the indie rock glory by holding the festival for consecutive weekends. With The Black Keys and Radiohead (arguably the biggest rock acts in the country right now) headlining four of the six days and old-school hip-hop legends Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg holding it down on the other two, this festival has a little something for everyone. Beats Antique, David Guetta and many of this past summer's Identity Festival electronic acts help round out a bill that will undoubtedly make the California spring even hotter. Though not stemming from the prototypical jam band festival mold, Coachella has a little of everything for any kind of music fan and a lot of those bands you heard and said, "Hmm, I'd like to check them out sometime," but never got the chance.

April 19-21 – Live Oak, FL
General Admission Tickets: $199.50 + fees
8th year – Last year's attendance: 20,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: Down at one of the most picturesque and festival-prepared venues in the country in the Spirit of Suwanee Park, Wanee is a growing event that has quickly become one of the most underrated around. The Allman Brothers Band hosts each year and brings in some of the best funk, jam, blues and even electronic acts in the country. It's one of the few chances you'll get to catch the legendary fathers of jam, outside in a festival setting. What more could you ask for? This year, they bring Furthur, Gov't Mule and Bruce Hornsby along with new-school electronic acts like Conspirator and EOTO.
2012 Lineup: Allman Brothers Band, Furthur, Gov't Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, Buddy Guy, Bruce Hornsby, Mickey Hart Band, Hot Tuna Electric, Ray Manzarek and Roy Rogers Band, Leftover Salmon, North Mississippi Allstars, Trigger Happy (Joan Osbourne, Jackie Greene, Steve Gorman, Audley Freed, Nick Govrik), SOJA, Conspirator, EOTO, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Particle, Devon Allman's Honeytribe, Zach Deputy, Matt Schofield, Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio, Big Sams Funky Nation, Charles Bradley, Bonerama, Jacob Jeffries Band, The Yeti Trio, Bonnie Blue

Three-Day Pass: SOLD OUT, VIP Pass: $849.00 +fees,
Super VIP Pass: $1304.00
3rd year – Last year's attendance: 35,000 – Camping: No
Headstash's Take: Heading into its third year on the white sand beaches of Alabama (who knew?), The Hangout was featured on some national commercials about tourism in the Gulf region. This year's lineup is more eclectic than any other festival. Headlined by rockers like Jack White and The Flaming Lips, jammers like String Cheese Incident and Dave Matthews Band and electronic acts like STS9, Skrillex and Paul Oakenfold, there's more than enough for every type of fan. The bill is diverse and large and this festival continues to grow. As the unofficial kick-off to festival season, The Hangout is an amazing event that's only getting better. It's safe to say there's not much of an "undercard" - this festival is filled with all very substantiated acts.
2012 Lineup: Jack White, String Cheese Incident (2 sets), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, The Flaming Lips (Performing Dark Side of the Moon), Steve Winwood, Chris Cornell, Dispatch, Flogging Molly, Wilco, Michael Franti and Spearhead, STS9, Gogol Bordello, Coheed and Cambria, Mavis Staples, Paul Oakenfold, Rich Aucoin, Dawes, Paper Diamond, Shpongle, Alabama Shakes, Futurebirds, M. Ward, Hey Rosetta!, Yelawolf, Sleeper Agent, G. Love and Special Sauce, Gary Clark Jr., Randy Newman, Rebelution, Young The Giant, Big Freedia, Mac Miller, Julian Marley, Archnemesis, Switchfoot, The Lumineers, Zeds Dead, Tribal Seeds, Jamie Bergeron, Dr. Dog, Allen Stone, The Devil Makes Three, Cage The Elephant, Skrillex

May 25-27 – Chillicothe, IL
Not-So-Early-Bird Three-Day Pass: $174.20, Thursday Pre-Party: $33.00
11th year – Last year's attendance: 20,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: moe. and Umphrey’s lead the way as they have for the better part of the decade with this Midwest family-themed festival. With camping sites in the middle of the woods, late-night shows in the intimate barn venue and at least a half-dozen sets from both major headliners, Summer Camp keeps pretty close to its format year to year – and it works. Expect plenty of moe. and Umphrey’s with a lot of surprises along the way like unannounced sound checks, random sit-ins and maybe even a sunrise kickball game with Ryan Stasik (see 2010). This year, they got some heavy-hitters in Primus and Bob Weir to tag along at Three Sisters Park. The high energy of gypsy punk rockers Gogol Bordello and the psychedelic bluegrass of Cornmeal balance a lineup that's heavy on downhome jamming and chock full of progressive jam rock.
2012 Lineup: moe., Umphrey's McGee, Pretty Lights*, Primus* (late-night with Les Claypool and The Dead Kenny G's), Jane's Addiction, Weir, Robinson, Greene Acoustic Trio, Gogol Bordello, Ozomatli, Cornmeal, Victor Wooten, Greensky Bluegrass, The Infamous Stringdusters, Hot Buttered Rum, Family Groove Company, DJ Solo, Positive Vibr8ions, Chicago Farmer, Brainchild, Spankalicious, The Giving Tree Band, Figure, Minnesota, G. Love and Special Sauce, Zed's Dead, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Chester Brown, 16bit, arabMUZIK, EOTO, Gigantic Underground Conspiracy*, Shpongle, Leftover Salmon, Fareed Haque and MathGames, Flinch, 12th Planet, Keller Williams, Gov't Mule

May 31- June 3 – Ozark, AR
Full Event Pass: $164.00, VIP Full Event Pass: $635.00,
Camping Passes: $29.00-$99.00
9th year – Last year's attendance: 20,000 – Camping: Yes (Extra Cost)
Headstash's Take: For four days in June, Mulberry Mountain in Arkansas is clearly the place to be if you’re a jam band fan. With an eclecic mix of jam bands (Umphrey's McGee, Slightly Stoopid), rock bands (Primus) and electronic acts (Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, EOTO), Wakarusa's lineup has enough to satisfy a wide range of fans. With Rothbury (as it used to be) and 10,000 Lakes both on an indefinite hiatus, it seems as though Wakarusa has picked up the slack and become the premiere jam festival in the country. Music goes all day and night and this year, the conflicts of year's past will be lessened with so many artists given more than one set to perform.
2012 Lineup: Primus, The Avett Brothers, Slightly Stoopid, Pretty Lights, Umphrey's McGee (2 sets), Weir, Robinson and Greene Acoustic Trio, Girl Talk, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Fitz and The Tantrums, G. Love and Special Sauce, Big Gigantic, The Del McCoury Band, Matisyahu, Ghostland Observatory, Tinariwen (2 sets), Savoy, Perpetual Groove, EOTO, The Travelin' McCourys, Quixotic Fusion (2 sets), Tea Leaf Green, Gary Clark Jr., Iration, Blitzen Trapper, Emmitt-Nershi Band (2 sets). VibeSquaD (2 sets), LA Riots, Krafty Kuts and A. Skillz with Dynamite MC, Toubab Krewe, That 1 Guy, Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers, Heartless Bastards (2 sets), The Secret Sisters, Dirtfoot, Adventure Club, Rubblebucket (2 sets), R/D (2 sets), Lance Herbstrong (2 sets), Nathaniel Rateliff, Virtual Boy, Monophonics, Ugly Lion, March Fourth Marching Band (2 sets), The Devil Makes Three, Split Lip Rayfield, Tribal Seeds, Gaelic Storm, The Delta Saints (2 sets), Hearts of Darkness, Mouth, Clandenstine, Balkan Beat Box (2 sets), Beats Antique, Railroad Earth (2 sets), MiM0SA, SOJA (2 sets), ALO, Keller Williams, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, The Infamous Stringdusters (2 sets), Green Velvet, MartyParty, RJD2, 12th Planet, Paper Diamond, Orgone, Papadosio, Assembly of Dust, New Monsoon, Nit GriT, The Motet (2 sets), Hot Buttered Rum (2 sets), The Durty Guv'nahs, The Werks, Keys N Krates, Lyrics Born (2 sets), The Moondoggies (2 sets), Futurebirds, The Heavy Pets (2 sets), The Sheepdogs (2 sets), Opiuo, Phutureprimitive, Love and Light, Wick-it the Instigator, Govinda, Shannon McNally, Dangermuffin, Quiet Corral (2 sets), Head For The Hills, Dumptruck Butterlips, Nadis Warriors, Ben Miller Band, Kids These Days, Gramatik, Daedelus, Snarky Puppy, Michal Menert, Cordovas (2 sets), The Lumineers, Break Science, Mia Borders, The Floozies, Mountain Sprout

Price Level 3 Tickets: $160.00, VIP Price Level 2: $440.00
8th year – Last year's attendance: 15,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: And if you're not headed down South to Wakarusa, there's Warren Haynes-dominated Mountain Jam in Upstate New York. Gov't Mule, Steve Winwood and Michael Franti are slated to headline the event with The Roots and Karl Denson providing ample support. Also featured this year is the reunion of Ben Folds Five, which should be memorable and musical enchanting. This festival has a unique lineup that's tied together by one thing: everyone here can absolutely slay with their respective instrument.
2012 Lineup: Steve Winwood, Gov’t Mule, Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Roots, Ben Folds Five, The Word (ft. Robert Randolph, John Medeski, and the N. Miss. Allstars), Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Travelin’ McCourys w/ Keller Williams, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Dawes, Gary Clark Jr., Carolina Chocolate Drops, Givers, Charles Bradley, Mariachi El Bronx, Bustle In Your Hedgerow, EOTO, Anders Osborne, Sara Watkins, Zach Deputy, Break Science, Planet of the Abts, The Lee Boys, Marco Benevento, Wolf!, Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds, The Sheepdogs, The Brew, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Ground Up, Pedrito Martinez, Zee Avi, Aunt Martha, Kopecky Family Band, Lauren Shera, Uncle Lucius, Connor Kennedy Band

Price Level Three: $249.50 + fees (Coming soon . . . ),
VIP Package for 2: $1399.50
11th year – Last year's attendance: 80,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: Say what you will about Bonnaroo, it basically spawned the modern festival scene today. What started as a jam-heavy festival has evolved into a more mainstream, catchall event with artists from Phish and Dave Matthews to Kanye West and Metallica. It’s big, it’s over-the-top and it’s a monstrous amount of music. Entering it’s eleventh year, Bonnaroo continues to grow and grab the admiration – and ire – of music lovers. And for its eleventh anniversary, you know Bonnaroo will have some tricks up its sleeve. The lineup is always extremely diverse with a ton of artists with mainstream appeal. Should be an amazing event - if you can stand the Tennessee heat.
2012 Lineup: Phish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, The Beach Boys, Bon Iver, The Avett Brothers, The Shins, Foster The People, Skrillex, Aziz Ansari, Dispatch, Feist, The Roots, Alice Cooper, Superjam, Black Star, The Word (John Medeski, Robert Randolph, North Mississippi Allstars), Ludacris, Ben Folds Five, Flogging Molly, Spectrum Road (Cindy Blackman Santana, Jack Bruce, John Medeski, Vernon Reid), Mac Miller, Childish Gambino, Major Lazer, Tune-Yards, Afrocubism, Flying Lotus, Umphrey's McGee, Little Dragon, St. Vincent, City and Colour, The Civil Wars, Young The Giant, Two Door Cinema Club, Punch Brothers, Needtobreathe, Fitz and The Tantrums, Bad Brains, Yelawolf, Dawes, Battles, Danny Brown, The Black Lips, SBTRKT, Phantogram, Kendrick Lamar, Charles Bradley

Headstash's Take: With less than one full day (16 hours to be exact) to squeeze in a ton of electronic musical talent, Starscape hits attendees hard and fast with the crunchiest, nastiest DJs and livetronica bands around. Past headliners include Bassnectar, The Disco Biscuits, EOTO and Lotus. Starscape is one of the fastest growing fests on the East Coast and you can be sure the party goes way after the sun comes up.

RE:GENERATION
June 21-24 – North Plains, OR
Ticketing Information Coming Soon . . .
3rd year – Last year's attendance: 4,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: Back for the second year in a row at Horning's Hideout in Oregon, not much is known about Re:Generation 2012 yet, but we can assume there will be a ton of talented electronic artists, guest appearances by many 1320 Record signees and enough STS9 to keep even the most hardcore of fans satsified. Last year the livetronica quintet was joined by Lotus, Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob and Big Gigantic and several peacocks at Horning's. The band pulled out all the stops in 2011 with the debut of an acoustic "Circus" and a rare performance by Murph's Pink Floyd side-project, Pigs on the Wing, so expect big things this year in 2012 with their Great Cycle Spectacles in full force.

June 28 - July 1 – Rothbury, MI
Regular Weekend Tickets: $242.50 + fees
2nd year – Last year's attendance: 30,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: After a year without any music in Sherwood Forest, String Cheese Incident quelled dissatisfied fans by bringing an eclectic and electronic-heavy lineup back to Rothbury, Michigan in 2011. For the second edition of this festival, they'll tap Bassnectar, Thievery Corporation, Girl Talk and a bevy of other electronic artists to headline. STS9 will perform two "Great Cycle Spectacle" shows with an amped up visual set-up. To round out the lineup, String Cheese will perform three nights and there are some bluegrass and folk bands to break up the womp. When it comes to music in Rothbury, it's not often anyone walks away without their mind being blown. Go for the atmosphere, stay for the music. There's nothing like that magical forest.
2012 Lineup: The String Cheese Incident (3 shows), Bassnectar, STS9 (2 shows), Thievery Corporation, Girl Talk, Santigold, Steve Aoki, Ghostland Observatory, Richie Hawtin, Wolfgang Gartner, Major Lazer, The Travelin' McCourys feat. Keller Williams, Dada Life, Big Gigantic, Datsik, Zeds Dead, Rob Garva (of Thievery Corporation), 12th Planet, Borgore, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Midnite, MiM0SA, EOTO, Das Racist, Reggie Watts, Paper Diamond, Felix Cartal, Gary Clark Jr., Balkan Beat Box, Big Freedia, NiT GriT, The Infamous Stringdusters, Nickodemus, Chali 2na and the House of Vibe, Alvin Risk, The Soul Rebels, See-I, Glass Candy, Battles, Gramatik, Elephant Revival, Ursula 1000, Minnesota, Nobody Beats The Drum, Congo Sanchez, Fruit Bats, The M Machine, Chromatics, Pictureplane, AutoErotique, Nathaniel Rateliff, Adventure Club, Afrolicious, Virtual Boy, The Funk Ark, Franki Chan, Brothers Past, Crizzly, HOTTUB, Zoogma, Cherub, Frank Mitchell Jr., The Knocks, Vau de Vire Society, Morning Teleportation, DrFameus, Robert Rich, Quixotic, Chuck Flask and Keith Kemp, DJ Solo, Ataxia, The Crane Wives, Secrets, WALA, Human Agency

July 5-8 – Quincy, CA
Adult Early-Bird Four-Day Passes: $160.00, various prices for younger
22nd year – Last year's attendance: 10,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: In it’s 22nd year, High Sierra is one of the longest tenured music festivals around. The festival, which annually boasts a diverse lineup that in the past has included My Morning Jacket, Ween, The Warren Haynes Band and Yonder Mountain String Band, prides itself in being a small-minded big festival with no overlapping shows and a wide variety of blues, funk, jazz and rock.

Potential Phish Festival X
TBD – TBD
10th year – Last year's attendance: 30,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: No word yet if this is happening or not, but Phish loves to keep people in the dark until the last minute. We'll update you as the inevitable rumors start flying. Last year's event at Watkins Glen, Superball IX, set the summer up for the best 3.0 yet. After skipping Halloween in 2011 and no shows announced for spring, the tenth festival could certainly be in the works.
2012 Lineup: Phish
July 12-14 – Mariaville, NY
Early-Bird Three-Day GA Ticket: $155.00, VIP Upgrade: $229.00,
Car Camping Pass: $20.00
11th year – Last year's attendance: 25,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: Camp Bisco grew by 5,000 from its ninth year to its tenth and shows no signs of stopping. What started as a place for like-minded Disco Biscuits fans to converge has quickly become one of the most popular and well-respected festivals on the East Coast - even among those who have no idea who Brownie or Barber is. They usually bring in some of the top acts of the jam and electronic worlds, so this year's lineup should be as good as ever.
2012 Lineup: The Disco Biscuits, more to be announced . . .

July 19-22 – Bridgeport, CT
Way Advance Weekend Camping Pass: $185.00, VIP Camping Pass: $420.00
17th year – Last year's attendance: 20,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: Vibes is a festival that prides itself being based around the music, emotions and ideals of The Grateful Dead. The lineup is usually jam-heavy with at least one or two Dead-inspired bands in attendance. Past headliners include Furthur, Dark Star Orchestra, Elvis Costello, Jane’s Addiction, Umphey’s McGee and moe. The Connecticut coast will undoubtedly have some rock for old-school fans, new-school fans and jam fans. The craziest party downtown Miami

July 19-22 – Thornville, OH
Early-Bird Four-Day Passes: $159.00, VIP Passes: $420.00 (Available February 24)
16th year – Last year's attendance: 25,000 – Camping: Yes
Headstash's Take: No that isn't a typo - All Good is in Ohio this year after so many years on Marvin's Mountaintop in West Virginia. Reasons on the switch are still not clear, but it definitely came as a surprise to the East Coast locals. Nevertheless, All Good has been one of the preeminent jam festivals in the country for years now and there's no reason to think a different venue will change that. Priding itself on no overlapping sets, this year features legends The Allman Brothers, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir and Bruce Hornsby as well as The Flaming Lips, Lotus, Galactic and Shpongle. And with 20 bands left to be announced, organizers surely have a few surprises in store for their first foray into the Midwest.
2012 Lineup: The Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh and Friends, The Flaming Lips, Bob Weir and Bruce Hornsby feat. Branford Marsalis, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Lotus, G. Love and Special Sauce, Galactic, Shpongle Presents The Masquerade, Mickey Hart Band, Trampled By Turtles, SOJA, Railroad Earth, Papadosio, The Werks, The Wood Brothers, Lettuce, The Lumineers, Everyone Orchestra, The Rex Jam

5th year – Last year's attendance: 60,000 – Camping: No
Headstash's Take: Though not confirmed yet, we can expect Golden Gate Park to host the fifth annual Outside Lands festival sometime in August. Last year, two sets of Phish highlighted an event that also included mainstream acts like Muse, Coldplay and Arcade Fire as well as electronic/livetronica performers like Deadmau5, STS9 and Lotus. Outside Lands straddles the line between indie rock event and diverse, Coachella-like lineup and does so in a beautifully serene San Francisco park.

Headstash's Take: If you start off your summer in Miami with Ultra, you should definitely finish it in New York City at the Electric Zoo. In past years, Pretty Lights, The Chemical Brothers, Benny Benassi, Major Lazer, Bassnectar and a plethora of electronic superstars made an appearance. It’s the Big Apple and three days of the best DJs in the world – what more could an electro fan ask for?

Headstash's Take: For the moe.ron who didn’t get enough in Amsterdam, Illinois or the Tropics, moe.down is the premiere moe. event. It’s the biggest, the most bombastic and it’s at times just plain ridiculous. After ten years in the same spot, the festival was moved to a bigger location in upstate New York in 2010. Past years featured Lotus, The Black Keys, Phish bassist Mike Gordon, and of course, plenty of moe.
